PASSIÓ SEGONS SANT MATEU, DE BACH – JORDI SAVALL – EL SO ORIGINAL – L’Auditori de Barcelona, 16. ABRIL 2019

Wie wunderbar ergab sich für uns die Gelegenheit, die Aufführung der Matthäus Passion, BWV 244 mit Jordi Savall im L’Auditori de Barcelona, besuchen zu können. Unsere große Vorfreude auf diese Passions-Aufführung wurde durch eine grandios Wiedergabe bestätigt.

Ein bewundernswerter Vocal-Chor mit 19 Stimmen besetzt, grandiose Gesangs-Solisten und ein Mädchenchor für den „Cantus firmus“ ergaben dieses Wunder von Barcelona.

Vor acht Tagen wurden wir im Palau de la Mùsica, Barcelona, durch die Aufführung von Paul McCreesh total enttäuscht. Seine Mini-Aufführung der Matthäus Passion, die in vielen Belangen die Anforderungen einer normalen Aufführung nicht erfüllten, weil ein Mini-Chor von 8 Stimmen dem nicht gerecht werden konnte.

Wie anders gelagert die Presentation durch den großartigen Spanischen Dirigenten Jordi Saval. Sein prächtig agierender Vocal-Chor, profunde Gesangs-Solisten, seine LA CAPELLA REIAL DE CATALUNYA erfüllten alle Normen, um diese Bach-Passion in die Herzen der Zuhörer aufzunehmen. Viele Jahre mussten vergehen, um wieder einmal so eine Fabel-Aufführung in Barcelona erleben zu können.

Erwähnenswert, dass Jordi Savall drei Gesangs-Solisten aus Deuschland die großen Gesangs-Passagen anvertraut hat. Als Evangelist wirkte der Tenor – Florian Sievers und überzeugte mit einer großartigen Stimme und Wortverständlichkeit. Hier ist der Bariton Matthias Winckhler als Jesus zu benennen, der die gleichen Voraussetzungen erfüllte und mit seinem warmen Timbre und einem großartigen Stimmvolumen überzeugen konnte.

Für mich als die Überraschung des Abends ist der Deutsche Countertenor Nils Wanderer zu benennen. Mit 23 Jahren singt Nils Wanderer international erfolgreich als Countertenor und lässt die Fachwelt aufhorchen. Jordi Savall übernahm auch hier den Part des Gambisten und begleitete Nils Wanderer in der Arie 39): „Erbarme dich, Mein Gott“.

Die Choräle wurden von dem Vocal-Chor in einer bewundernswerter intensität und Innigkeit gesungen, die ein weiterer Glanzpunkt in dieser Aufführung waren.

Das Dirigat von dem jetzt 77-jährigen Jordi Savall wurde in einer ruhigen und sachlichen Art umgesetzt. Bewundernswert seine fachliche Kompetenz und sein großartiges Ensemble sowie die gekonnte Auswahl der Gesangs-Solisten, was in einer grandiosen Bach-Passion zu erleben war.

Diese Aufführung der Matthäus Passion, wird lange in uns haften bleiben. Der nicht endend wollende Schluss-Applaus dankte Jordi Savall und seinem wunderbaren Ensemble für einen Konzertabend der absluten Spitzen-Klasse. Frohen Herzens traten wir in die Dunkelheit der späten Nacht und waren erfüllt von der großen Passionsmusik von dem genialen J.S. Bach.

How wonderful for us was the opportunity to attend the performance of the St Matthew Passion, BWV 244 with Jordi Savall at L’Auditori de Barcelona. Our great anticipation of this Passion performance was confirmed by a terrific rendering.

An admirable vocal chorus with 19 voices, magnificent vocal soloists and a girls‘ choir for the „Cantus Firmus“ gave this marvel of Barcelona.

Eight days ago, at the Palau de la Mùsica, Barcelona, ​​we were totally disappointed by the performance of Paul McCreesh. His mini-performance of the St. Matthew Passion, which in many respects did not meet the requirements of a normal performance, because a mini-choir of 8 voices could not do it justice.

How differently arranged the presentation by the great Spanish conductor Jordi Saval. His splendid vocal choir, profound vocal soloists, his LA CAPELLA REIAL DE CATALUNYA fulfilled all the norms to bring this Bach passion into the hearts of the audience. Many years had to pass to once again experience such a fabulous performance in Barcelona.

Noteworthy that Jordi Savall has entrusted the great vocal passages to three vocal soloists from Germany. As an evangelist, the tenor – Florian Sievers worked and convinced with a great voice and intelligibility. Here is the baritone Matthias Winckhler as Jesus to name, who fulfilled the same conditions and could convince with his warm timbre and a great voice volume.

For me as the surprise of the evening is to name the German countertenor Nils Wanderer. At the age of 23, Nils Wanderer sang internationally as a countertenor and makes the professional world sit up and take notice. Jordi Savall also took over the role of the Gambist and accompanied Nils Wanderer in Aria 39): „Have mercy, My God“.

Not to mention, I would like to leave Markus Volpert (baritone), who presented a gloss presentation in his bass parts. Markus Volpert is regularly heard as a soloist in the concerts and recordings of the J. S. Bach Foundation St. Gallen.

From the Spanish soprano Marta Mathéu you will also be able to hear a lot of good in the future, they inspired us with their great voice volume and word intelligibility.

The chorales were sung by the vocal choir in an admirable intensity and intimacy, which was another highlight in this performance.

The direction of the now 77-year-old Jordi Savall was implemented in a calm and objective way. Admirable his professional competence and his great ensemble as well as the skilful selection of vocal soloists, which was to experience in a grandiose Bach Passion.

This performance of the St Matthew Passion will be long stuck in us. The never-ending final applause thanked Jordi Savall and his wonderful ensemble for a concert evening of the absolute top class. With a happy heart we stepped into the darkness of the late night and were filled with the great passion music of the ingenious J.S. Bach.
