Von den Internationalen Barocktagen zu Pfingsten Juni 2017 aus dem Stift Melk, Österreich

Seit ihrer Gründung 1992 avancierten die jährlich zu Pfingsten stattfindenden Internationalen Barocktage Stift Melk zu einem der renommiertesten Festivals für Alte Musik. Eingebettet im atemberaubenden Ambiente des Barockstifts lag es nahe, den programmatischen Schwerpunkt auf die Pflege der Musik des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts zu fokussieren.
Auch aufstrebende und junge Talente sowie selten gespielte Werke sind Jahr für Jahr Teil des Programms.

Die „matinee“ am Pfingstsonntag bringt mit „Dem Himmel so nah: Johann Sebastian Bach“ eine Konzertaufzeichnung der letztjährigen Barocktage von 2017. Unter dem Motto „Ewiges Feuer, Ursprung der Liebe“ interpretierten Michael Schade, Günther Groissböck, der Tölzer Knabenchor und der Concentus Musicus Wien unter der musikalischen Leitung von Stefan Gottfried in der Stiftskirche Melk Johann Sebastian Bachs Kantaten zum Pfingstfest.

In der Stiftskirche Melk wähnt sich auch das Publikum dem Himmel so nah… Die Musik des Barocks ist gekennzeichnet durch eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit dem Verlauf des Kirchenjahres. Vertonungen rund um das Pfingstfest stellen dabei einen musikalischen Höhepunkt dar.

So hat etwa der Großmeister jener Zeit, Johann Sebastian Bach, eine Vielzahl an Kantaten für kirchliche Feste komponiert, von denen sich an die 200 heute noch im Repertoire erhalten haben. Einige davon sind dem Fest des Heiligen Geistes gewidmet und wurden als finaler Höhepunkt der Internationalen Barocktage Stift Melk 2017 in Kombination mit einer Auswahl an Instrumentalwerken von Bach zum Erklingen gebracht.

From the International Baroque Days to Pentecost 2017 from Melk Abbey, Austria

Since its founding in 1992, the International Baroque Days Melk, held annually at Pentecost, have become one of the most prestigious early music festivals. Embedded in the breathtaking ambience of the baroque convent, it was natural to focus on the programmatic focus on the care of the music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Also emerging and young talents as well as rarely played works are part of the program year after year.

The „matinee“ on Whitsunday brings with „The Sky so near: Johann Sebastian Bach“ a concert recording of last year’s Baroque Days of 2017. Under the motto „Eternal Fire, Origin of Love“ interpreted Michael Schade, Günther Groissböck, the Tölzer Knabenchor and the Concentus Musicus Wien under the musical direction of Stefan Gottfried in the Collegiate Church Melk Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantatas for Pentecost.

In the collegiate church of Melk, the audience also imagines the sky so close … The music of the Baroque is characterized by an intensive examination of the course of the church year. Settings around Pentecost are a musical highlight.

For example, the great master of that time, Johann Sebastian Bach, composed a large number of cantatas for religious festivals, of which some 200 have survived in the repertoire. Some of them are dedicated to the Feast of the Holy Spirit and were brought to life as the final highlight of the International Baroque Days Stift Melk 2017 in combination with a selection of instrumental works by Bach.
